Basketball Introduction

In early December 1891, Luther Gulick, chairman of education at the christian school, and a physical education teacher, James Naismith wanted to invent a new game to entertain the school's athletes during the winter. Basketball is a world wide sport. The first basketball was actually a soccer ball. The soccer ball was thrown into a woven basket. This was the very first basketball that was "made".
